Join the mission to fight hunger and support your community!
Our thrift shop is more than a place for bargains; it’s a mission‑driven initiative supporting food security and cancer‑support programs. Shopping and donating gently used items provides cash flow to multiple food assistance programs.
Answers to some questions
As a newer 501(c)(3), we often receive similar questions about our mission and how we help. Let’s answer some of those questions here. As always, we thank you for your support. 💙🌈🦋
Who is the main point of contact for The Mama Edna Project?
Hi, I’m Drew Klutz. I founded The Mama Edna Project in 2013 with my partner, Tim McLamb, one of Mama Edna’s 4 children, after she passed from cancer. I am the day-to-day person on the ground here at Mama Edna’s Thrift Shop along with my team of volunteers.
What do the proceeds go to from the nonprofit and thrift store?
Proceeds of the nonprofit and thrift shop help buy food for local school pantries and our onsite emergency pantry that we use to help other NPO’s distribute food.
How can I help the mission to feed more people?
There are many ways to help. We always need donations of merchandise for the store and food items for the pantry. You can volunteer onsite to help with store tasks. You can spread the word on social media and in your circles of contacts.
What are your plans for the future? Any expansion plans?
Currently, we are limited to 4,000 square feet of retail space. It’s very challenging to put everything we want under one roof. We hope to open a women’s only shop in the future to offer clothing and a full range of women’s accessories.
